I hope you all had a wonderful and happy Thanksgiving! Turkey Day dinner at The Bungalow was somewhat of a whirlwind, I feel like I blinked and it was all over! Dinner went off without a hitch, I brined the turkey and cannot recommend the extra step enough (I used this recipe). Although I did flood the kitchen with raw turkey water twice – it was not a pretty scene! Luckily that took place in the morning, so everything was disinfected twice over before our guest’s arrival. Next year I will be using a bucket in place of the turkey brining bag!
As per my usual, I got so caught up having a good time I barely took any pictures – I really need to remember to do this at our upcoming holiday party! I did manage to snap a few pics of the table on my iPhone before our guests arrived. We usually have a decent size crowd, and this year the table was set for 12. In lieu of having a tablecloth custom-made to accommodate the 10 ft. table, I picked up some cheap burlap to achieve a seamless look.
The flowers were supermarket bunches that I combined and arranged in tortoise drinking glasses – I love the repetition of them going down the table!
And the place settings were a combination of old – my Great Grandmother’s china and vintage Lenox glasses; and new – Pier 1 chargers, Pier 1 napkins, Anthropologie hobnail glasses (similar), Pier 1 napkin rings, Rifle Paper Co. place cards.
I think a good time was had by all! How was your Thanksgiving?
